Driving Performance
Engagement, motivation and commitment
Enhancing performance is core business for leaders.
The Independent Review into the Public Service has made a call for ‘empowered managers accountable for developing people and teams.’
To answer this call and optimise performance in their teams, leaders need to understand what sits behind ‘performance’: capability, support and motivation.
This program is focused on empowering participants to positively impact the performance of not only their direct reports, but also their colleagues and even their own managers.
Focus areas include strategies to delegate effectively, give effective feedback, and motivate others both intrinsically and extrinsically.
Participants will consider how leaders impact performance through increasing motivation, engagement and commitment to get the best out of their people and consider practical approaches to bring that impact back into the workplace.

“Max went above and beyond in caring about each of us and always being open and approachable.
I’m so grateful for your willingness to witness me and to be a support as I came face to face with my shadow and worked out how to be the best leader I can be.
It was way more than I expected and you’re amazing.
Thank you for being you.”

Leadership from Afar
Effective remote leadership
In this new, dynamic world of leadership, we are now being asked to lead people via camera and over email – often without the benefit of having met in person.
Frankly, effective leadership has never been more difficult – almost all documented leadership wisdom and practices assume the leader is in the same room as their team members!
Leadership from Afar focuses on the practical strategies leaders can employ to lead highly effective, dispersed teams.
This includes:
establishing and maintaining communication excellence,
building meaningful trust relationships,
providing a balance of structure and autonomy
becoming an enabler
getting creative about developing cultural connections amongst team members.
The objective of remote leadership is the same as proximity-based leadership, however, the way in which it is achieved is going to look different.
This one-day program looks closely at how we can approach this new paradigm of leadership and enables leaders to be effective, no matter their location.
-
As a result of attending this program, participants will:
Adopt appropriate communication strategies for a dispersed and remote working environment
Develop trust relationships that do not rely on proximity- based approaches
Manage task delegation effectively
Engage in servant leader behaviours to enable team members
Develop a sense of ‘we’ amongst team members who may have never met each other face-to-face

Mastering Management
Delivering results through others
Leading is one thing, managing another.
In order to be effective in our roles, we need to be able to distinguish what ‘lever’ is needed in any given situation.
The fundamental levers of management are:
Direction – Providing an end state and a route towards it
Protection – Creating an environment where people can do their best work
Order – Creating clarity and certainty so a group can be effective and efficient
In a highly complex world, people need a manager to reduce the complexity and create an environment where they can still sustainably help the team achieve their mission.
This program seeks to support managers on using the authority that stems from their role ethically and for the good of the team. Participants will discover best-practice approaches for management and consider how to best meet the needs of their team so that everyone can contribute.
-
As a result of attending this program, participants will:
Understand the expectations team members have for managers
Distinguish management from leadership and understand its impact in day-to-day mindset and behaviours
Provide effective supervision of performance
Create an effective holding environment for team members to do their best work
Positively impact team morale and engagement
Delegate and task out effectively and appropriately
Ethically use influence that stems from their position

The Root Cause
Understanding and Uplifting Underperformance
Optimising performance is core business for leaders.
While team members are responsible for performing at their best, it is their manager who is ultimately accountable for their outputs.
In short, leaders have ‘skin in the game’ when it comes to the performance of their team members.
To optimise performance in their teams and effectively address performance that is not meeting the standard, leaders need to understand what sits behind ‘performance’: capability, support and motivation.
This program is focused on empowering participants to positively and practically impact the ‘root cause’ of performance outcomes. By providing appropriate support such as defining task and role, giving performance enhancing feedback, and creating opportunities to grow, leaders can effectively impact the performance of their team members.
This two-hour masterclass provides managers with an understanding of factors resulting in underperformance, as well as an opportunity to explore the tools and strategies that will enhance their team’s performance and create a culture of continuous development.
-
As a result of attending this program, participants will:
Understand the formula of performance
Consider their role in optimising the performance of others
Provide feedback that enhances performance
Create opportunities for capability building in the workplace
