The Root Cause
Understanding and Uplifting Underperformance
Optimising performance is core business for leaders.
While team members are responsible for performing at their best, it is their manager who is ultimately accountable for their outputs.
In short, leaders have ‘skin in the game’ when it comes to the performance of their team members.
To optimise performance in their teams and effectively address performance that is not meeting the standard, leaders need to understand what sits behind ‘performance’: capability, support and motivation.
This program is focused on empowering participants to positively and practically impact the ‘root cause’ of performance outcomes. By providing appropriate support such as defining task and role, giving performance enhancing feedback, and creating opportunities to grow, leaders can effectively impact the performance of their team members.

Adaptive Leadership
The Core Four
This introduction to Adaptive Leadership is focused on the difficult but rewarding work of leadership that is about mobilising people to tackle tough challenges.
This program introduces the four core concepts that sit behind this impactful practice:
Adaptive challenges – Recurring issues where people need to change their values, mindsets and behaviours
Technical problems – simple or complicated issues that can be resolved using existing expertise or authority
Authority – power vested in you by others; comes from your position or your expertise. Used to address technical problems.
Leadership – power vested in self by the self; the ability to mobilise others to change their values, mindsets and behaviours.
This two-hour masterclass gives participants a new lens with which to diagnose the adversity they face in the workplace and a new approach to address it.
The introduction of these concepts invites participants to reconsider their approach in the workplace and what it means to make progress. This is the perfect introduction to adaptive leadership for those new to leadership or those short on time.

As a result of attending this program, participants will:
Distinguish between adaptive challenges and technical problems
Consider the implications of leadership and authority
Intervene skilfully when approaching tough challenges

“Max went above and beyond in caring about each of us and always being open and approachable.
I’m so grateful for your willingness to witness me and to be a support as I came face to face with my shadow and worked out how to be the best leader I can be.
It was way more than I expected and you’re amazing.
Thank you for being you.”

Creating an Everyone Culture
Starting with Self
Culture is not ‘set’ by those with the most power in an organisation – culture is what is ‘normal’ around here – the behaviours and beliefs of everyone.
Organisations often get stuck in a ‘culture trap’ by believing culture is not about me, it is about ‘them’ – other people, particularly senior leadership. However, culture is established by those who engage in the day-to- day behaviours and who ‘live the culture’.
Culture is complex and can be seen as daunting for those who want to make a difference in the workplace.
This short, 2-hour program strips culture of its mystery and discusses what participants can do from where they sit to begin impacting the culture around them.
By the end of these two hours, participants should find culture a bit less mysterious, a bit less daunting, and feel mobilised to make it the job of everyone.
-
As a result of attending this program, participants will:
Understand culture and its importance
Diagnose the macro culture of their organisation
Reflect on the impact of leadership on culture
Embed a positive culture in their environment

Dealing with Conflict and Difficult Conversations
Making progress in difficult situations
Conversations are not difficult; people are difficult. Fundamental to leadership is being able to deal with difficult people and move forward – this means that leadership entails engaging productively with conflict.
‘Conflict’ conjures up uncomfortable feelings and negative connotations. However, conflict is not just part of our everyday life; it is necessary for teams to make progress. Despite its usefulness, people often feel unequipped to approach conflict and engage in difficult conversations.
To engage productively in conflict, it is useful to know what it is, and even more importantly, what it is not. Everyone is entitled to dignity in the workplace. However, people can still experience dignity and respect while having tough conversations.
This program aims to equip participants with practical strategies they can use to have uncomfortable and respectful conversations that allow the team to move forward and achieve their objectives.
This short, 2-hour program aims to equip individuals with tools they can put to use immediately in order to harness conflict rather than flee from it.
