Breaking out of the Culture Trap
Creating a for-purpose culture
Culture is not ‘set’ by those with the most power in an organisation – culture is what is ‘normal’ around here. They are the behaviours and beliefs of everyone, every day.
Organisations often get stuck in a ‘culture trap’ by believing culture is not about ‘me’, it is about ‘them’ – other people, particularly senior leadership. However, those who engage in the day-to-day behaviours of culture are the people who ‘live the culture’.
This is where culture is established. While those most senior in an organisation have significant influence, it is the everyday leadership of those ‘on the floor’ who cast the most influential leadership shadow.
This is you.
To break out of the culture trap, leaders must consider carefully and deliberately what sort of culture they want in their team and then align their leadership shadow to deliberately ensure that values are embedded into the team culture.
This program is focused on giving leaders the tools to embed positive values and behaviours in their team to build a strong culture.

Harnessing the Power of ‘We’
Building a cohesive team culture
To be effective and achieve great things, members of a team need to be bound together and see themselves as a common ‘we.’
This sense of ‘we-ness’ is essential, and creating it is the work of leadership – without it, even the most talented teams can falter without the right conditions for success.
Team cohesion is premised on team members’ belief that identification and affiliation with a group is important and meaningful to them. This shared belief leads to higher levels of work satisfaction, organisational citizenship, retention, and better team outcomes.
Leadership is central to building this sense of shared group identity. Leaders contribute to the sense of psychological safety in a team, the group’s commitment to the mission and cause, the group’s engagement in the work, and the sense of purpose to the team.
Harnessing the Power of ‘We’ acknowledges that the work of leadership is about building the capacity of the group rather than building dependency on the leader.
During this one-day program, leaders will be taught to mobilise a cohesive group to tackle difficult problems and wield the power of many to achieve great outcomes.

Culture Eats Change for Breakfast
Creating a strong adaptive culture
Is your team going through a branch restructure?
Are you staring down the barrel of a Machinery of Government (MOG)?
Adjusting to a new reform agenda?
Is your team experiencing change fatigue?
Peter Drucker highlighted an undeniable truth when he said, ‘Culture eats strategy for breakfast’. Even the best laid plans falter when the people who must execute them are not on board. However, a strong and adaptable culture that is ripe for change assures a change strategy’s success.
Change can only happen when people are ready for it and open to it – they must be ripe to take on the difficult work of change. Therefore, a core leadership capability is the ability to prepare a group of people to engage in change – to make them ripe. Without ripeness, culture will eat change for breakfast.
Culture Eats Change for Breakfast is focused on creating cultural norms that enable change to occur. It is about preparing a team with a culture that has high levels of fitness and change readiness.
This program, it is about creating an ‘adaptive space’ where change can occur and intentionally builds the group’s resilience and capacity to tackle the turbulence of their environment.
This one-day program enables leaders to ripen their culture for change and prepare their people for tackling difficult challenges. This is a program about preparing to succeed before jumping blindly into change – it is a program that ensures your important change doesn’t get eaten for breakfast.
